Orthotics: One Size Fits All?

Ankle-N-Foot-Centers---Custom-OrthoticsFrequently we see patients who need custom orthotics for a variety of conditions.  Many of them believe that orthotics are simply to treat arch problems.  While there are certainly a large number of people who use orthotics for this very reason, there are also different orthotics for different conditions.

The majority of foot problems are a result of improper mechanics of the foot.  This includes heel spurs, arthritis, neuromas and arch pain, also known as plantar fasciitis.  Functional orthotics are designed to control and improve the mechanics of the foot, improving many of the symptoms related to these conditions as well.  Orthotics are also effective in improving knee, hip, lower back pain and lower leg pain, which is often the result of excessive pronation.  Using a functional orthotic increases stability to the foot which allows the muscles of the lower leg to be less stressed.

Even bunion and hammer toe pain can be alleviated by custom shoe inserts.  You might be pleasantly surprised by the options for orthotics!  Why not come in for an exam if you have foot pain?  The solution might be easier than you think!  Click here to request an appointment.
