Triad Foot Center ‘Feeding Local Families’ Food Drive Collects Over 120 Pounds of Food!
Several families in the Triad are going to have full stomachs, thanks to Triad Foot Center’s “Feeding Local Families” Food Drive, which collected over 120 pounds of canned goods during their month-long drive.
“The community and the staff at Triad Foot Center really rallied to collect food for families in need,” says Dr. Norman Regal. “We want to thank all of our patients and community members who dropped off goods at our office.”
The non-perishables were donated to local food banks at DreamAlign Ministries and the Greensboro Urban Ministry, which offer services to needy families in the Triad.
“The holiday season is all about giving back and helping the less fortunate in our community,” says. Dr. Todd Hyatt. “I’m happy to see that the community pulled together to celebrate what the holidays are really about.”
Food insecurity is a huge problem in Guilford County, as it ranks fourth for metropolitan areas for hunger in North Carolina. One in five adults and one in four children do not have proper access to food, according to the Greensboro Urban Ministry.
Another eight percent of North Carolina households with children don’t know where their next meal is coming from, even with assistance, North Carolina Food Banks data revealed.
