Foot Pain

Foot Pain

Sometimes your feet just hurt without a clear reason why or what is causing it. With 26 bones supported by a complex system of joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, anything can go wrong.

Foot pain is a common condition that can arise from improper foot mechanics, poor shoe choices, medical conditions, and repetitive stress. You may experience generalized foot pain or pain in a specific area, like your toes, arch, heel, or ball of your foot. Regardless of where the pain is located, one of our highly trained podiatrists can diagnose the cause, and effectively treat the root cause to alleviate the pain and get you back on your feet.

Prevention & Treatment

The best line of defense against preventable foot pain is investing in quality, supportive shoes, and having your feet measured by a professional to ensure proper fit.

While treatment options vary depending on where the pain originates from, our physicians suggest trying the following methods until you can see your physician:

  • Change your shoes. Get your feet measured and purchase shoes for your specific foot type.
  • Use the RICE Method. Rest, ice, compression, and elevate.
  • Take over-the-counter pain relievers if approved by your physician.
When to Seek Care

If you are experiencing foot pain that is not improving with at-home treatments, it’s time to see your podiatrist.

If you notice that you can’t place any weight on your foot; it is swollen, the skin is red or discolored, it’s hot to the touch, or an open wound is present, you need to see your podiatrist as soon as possible.
